Sustainability at HPE
Paper is a renewable resource — but only when the supply chain behind it is managed responsibly. As an independent distributor of paper, containerboard, and paperboard, HPE holds itself to that standard at every point we touch the chain, from the mills we source from to the material we deliver.
Certified Fiber Sourcing
HPE is certified to both the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. These certifications reflect our commitment to sourcing fiber from responsibly managed forests — supporting sustainable forestry practices, protecting biodiversity, and respecting the rights of forest workers and local communities. When customers request certified material, we can trace it through a controlled chain of custody, from certified mill to final delivery.
Why It Matters
Our customers — converters, packaging manufacturers, and brand owners — increasingly need to verify that the paper and paperboard in their supply chain meets credible, third-party sustainability standards. For HPE, certification isn’t a marketing claim; it’s a documented, auditable commitment that lets our partners make the same claim to their own customers with confidence.
An Ongoing Commitment
Sustainability in the paper industry isn’t static. Mill practices, fiber sourcing standards, and customer expectations continue to evolve, and HPE stays close to those changes through our certifications and our direct relationships with mills across North America — so responsible sourcing remains part of every transaction, not an afterthought.
